From Bramble to Jam

Around 1885, the Himalayan Blackberry was introduced to North America as a commercial berry crop. As a resilient and invasive species, it has been detrimental to native vegetation, particularly in the context of Stanley Park. The site recontextualizes the Himalayan blackberry from a product of colonial extraction into ecological restoration, education, and community engagement within Stanley Park. Through seasonal cycles of removal and restoration, visitors participate in reshaping the landscape toward reciprocity.
